Pushing The Boundaries of

CRAFTSMANSHIP

When fourth generation diamantaire Harakh Mehta decided to launch his eponymous brand HARAKH in New York during the spring of 2017, a brand that specialized in creating exceptional jewelry expertly crafted from only the finest materials, he promised himself that HARAKH would also strive for a higher purpose – to give and spread JOY to all those who came in contact with it. After all, the name HARAKH in his native language Gujarati means exactly that: “a sense of JOY so powerful that it moves one to tears.” This philosophy is cemented in a simple logo, the tear of JOY symbol that appears on every HARAKH jewelry piece.

HARAKH
MEHTA

Mr. Harakh Mehta was exposed to the world of jewelry from a young age, coming from a long line of diamantaires and jewelers. Born and raised in Mumbai, he completed his graduation from the US, before joining the family business and launching the HARAKH brand. He has gained much international media attention, being written up in publications such as The New York Times and Forbes and appeared on radio and television shows. Considered as one of the brightest emerging talents in the industry, he won the Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Award in January 2020 for the category of Fine Jewelry and was named as an Inspiring Indian by the Economic Times in August 2022 for his contribution to society as an International Haute Jeweler. He spends a significant amount of time traveling the world in search of the most unique diamonds and gemstones. His deep rooted spiritual practices have laid a strong ethical foundation for the brand, placing sustainable business practices at the forefront of its operations.

The
ORIGIN

The House of HARAKH traces its origins back to 1916, when founder Harakh Mehta’s great-grandfather, Mr. Manilal Chandulal Mehta, began importing diamonds from Belgium to India. This journey began serendipitously—during a routine visit to the post and telegraph office in Madras (now Chennai), Mr. Mehta assisted a British gentleman. That simple act of kindness led to an unlikely friendship that would change the course of his life. Encouraged by his new friend, he traveled to Antwerp and returned with diamonds for the British community in India, setting the foundation for what would become a legacy in fine jewelry.

HERITAGE
PASSED IN SILENCE

For over a century, his descendants honed and perfected their craft, becoming trusted diamond cutters and jewelers, navigating continents and evolving traditions while staying true to their values. This heritage culminated in the founding of HARAKH in 2017, exactly 101 years after that pivotal moment in Madras.

THE
ORIGIN

After completing his education in upstate New York and earning his gemology credentials in California, Harakh Mehta returned to India, inspired by his homeland’s natural beauty. He launched his namesake high jewelry maison, HARAKH, with a mission to celebrate and share joy—the true meaning of his name.

THE
frienDship

Each HARAKH creation is handcrafted using ancient artisanal techniques and set exclusively with pristine, ethically sourced, colorless diamonds of exceptional rarity. The collections pay tribute to India’s landscapes, architectural marvels, and cultural richness—transforming nature’s beauty and moments of joy into timeless jewels.
